In the past similar conclusions have been received during experiences
on animals. In particular, life expectancy of mice was possible to

of life.
However delay of ageing has occured and at a molecular level: speed of

South Beach Diet
Sunday, November 18th, 2007The South Beach diet was invented by cardiologist Arthur Agatston. He developed this diet for his cardiac patients and he discovered that as a side effect of the diet they also lost significant amounts of weight.
South Beach Diet is not a traditional low-carb or low-fat diet plan.
The diet distinguishes between good and bad carbohydrates, and good and bad fats, and purports that by cutting the bad carbs out of your diet, you will lower your body’s levels of cholesterol and insulin, which will ultimately lead to weight loss.
“Good carbs” are high in fiber or high in good fats, and have a low glycemic carbs, such as whole grains and vegetables, which take longer to break down, expend more energy as they break down.
Other preferred carbohydrates are those with more nutritional value than the alternatives. For instance, brown rice is allowed in moderation, but white rice is discouraged. When eating any carbohydrates, Dr. Agatston recommends also eating fiber or fat to slow digestion of the carbohydrates.
“Good fats” are polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, especially those with omega-3 fatty acids. Saturated and trans fats are bad fats.
The South Beach diet has three phases.
In all phases it is recommended minimizing consumption of bad fats, such as saturated fat and trans fat.
- Phase I, which lasts two weeks, are meant to help your body a complete rest from fluctuating blood sugar and insulin levels. Dieters attempt to eliminate insulin resistance by avoiding high or moderately high-glycemic carbohydrates such as sugar and alcohol, candy, bread, potatoes, fruit, cereals, sweets, cake, biscuits. But the focus is on eating lean meat, chicken, fish, eggs, low-fat cheese, some nuts and olive oil.
During this phase the body will lose its insulin resistance, and begin to use excess body fat. - Later 2 weeks begin Phase II.
Whole grain foods and fruits, Granary bread, wholegrain cereals and pasta and low-fat milk and chocolate and wine, in moderation, are gradually returned to the diet. You stay with this phase until you will reach target weight. - After, once you’ve reached your goal weight, the diet passes in Phase III, a maintenance phase. In Phase III the diet expands to include three servings of whole grains and three servings of fruit a day. This phase is aimed at keeping your weight steady and the diet recommends you stay on this for life.
This is a diet anyone can love – whether you’re into fast food, home-cooking, or eating at the trendiest new restaurants. The South Beach diet does not require counting calories or limiting servings. The South Beach diet developed so that there are no limits on portion sizes – you simply eat enough to satisfy your appetite.

Diabetic diet
Sunday, November 18th, 2007Diet is very important in diabetes. Diabetic Diet is a vital component in your overall diabetes control program.
People with diabetes are more likely to be overweight. 9 out of 10 people with newly diagnosed diabetes are overweight.
Losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight is primary goal for everyone with diabetes.
Losing just 10 to 15 pounds may improve your blood glucose, blood pressure, and improve your blood fats so much that you can stop taking or reduce your medication.
Experts in food and nutrition say that there is no one Diabetic Diet. There is no single food that people with diabetes must not eat and they do not have to cut out sugar totally. People with diabetes are recommended to eat only small amounts of foods that are high in sugar or high in fat. High-protein diets such as the Atkins diets are high in fat and are not recommended for people with diabetes.
People with type 1 diabetes should have a diabetic diet that has approximately 35 calories per kg of body weight per day. Patients with Type 2 diabetes generally are put on a 1500-1800 calorie diet per day to promote weight loss and then the maintenance of ideal body weight.
More obese people may need more calories initially until their weight is less because it takes more calories to maintain a larger body and a low calorie diet for them may promote weight loss that is too fast to be healthy.
-
Basic Nutrition for People with Diabetes:
- Eating less sweets
- Eating less fat
- Eating often – healthy eating is not simply a matter of “what one eats”, but also when one eats
- Eating lots of whole-grain foods, fruits and vegetables
- Limiting your use of alcohol
It is desirable for everyone to know as much as possible about food. The better and more you understand your diet, the more you be able to design your own diabetic diet menu.
A study showed that if people lost a small amount of weight and became more active for three years they could prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. People also had other benefits of weight loss like lowered blood pressure.
It can be hard to talk about weight loss especially if you have tried to lose weight in the past, but you can lose weight and keep it off. Your first step is to talk with your doctor about losing weight.
Diabetes educator, dietitian, and doctor will develop a personal diabetic diet that will prevent complications of diabetes, well-balanced tailored to your individual needs, tastes, activity level and life style. Vegetarians should tell to the dietitian about the tastes that he could make a vegetarian diabetic diet plan.
